This session will help students actually work through the specifics of building a new business that has the potential to be franchised both in the United States and around the world.
"How To Create A Successful Franchise"

- divide the group into teams and give them the following challenge:

Identify an existing business or create a business idea that could be successfully franchised both in the U.S. and other countries.  Be prepared to make a 5 minute presentation that covers the following:

  • Describe the Idea & Its Value Proposition
  • Describe why this idea is great candidate for franchising
  • Describe in detail the type of person who will be your ideal candidate as the franchisee
  • Will you begin in the U.S. or another country and why
  • If you begin in the U.S., what level of success will you need to achieve before you move to other countries
  • What will be the first three countries you move to outside of the U.S. and why

We give them about 15 - 20 minutes to work on their presentation.  Hyung Ly can move from team-to-team very quickly providing advice and answering questions.

They make their presentations to judges. Hyung Ly makes closing remarks regarding the total effort.
