Janelle Larson is an associate professor of agricultural economics at Penn State Berks. Her research agenda focuses on rural development and economic growth in general, with interest in the role of markets for land, credit, and labor. Her current research activities include the role of entrepreneurship and social networks in income-generation and factors that affect the dissemination and adoption of improved agricultural practices in the Rift Valley of Kenya. Janelle values engagement with the public and application of her academic work, seeking to partner with various nongovernmental and governmental organizations interested in applied research to inform programs and policies. Currently, she is part of a collaborative effort in research, service learning, and outreach with a program for street-dwelling children in Kenya.
