GEWPennState 2016 has ended
Global Entrepreneurship Week Penn State celebrates the Community of Entrepreneurship. Penn State and the communities surrounding the campuses that are emerging as a vibrant collective of independent thinkers who work together to get important things done. This is the vision of community enabling a better world through collective effort.

At University Park each day has a theme: Go Freelance!, Social Entrepreneurship, Intrapreneurship Innovation, Entrepreneurial Women, Start-Up Shake-Up.  Keynotes are from noon-1:00 (except Wednesday) and master classes follow the keynotes. Perspective Panels, 3-5 experienced entrepreneurs talk about their successes and failures, are held from 3:00-4:00. From 4:30 to 6:30 every day you will find workshops.  New Leaf Initiative  sponsors networking opportunities every day from 6:30-8:00 followed by Flavor Flights, sponsored by the CBICC, every evening from 8:00-9:30.

Michael Rethage is the vice president of Customer Success for Touchtown Inc., located in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Michael has a strong entrepreneurial background with diverse flavor in areas of project management, health care, procurement, sales, marketing, and IT implementation. His experiences have led him to start and sell two businesses before the age of 27. Mike's creative capabilities have led him to wear many different hats, from leading major software releases for a major national health care provider to creating a custom web marketing training for small businesses which he delivered numerous times for crowds of 100+. His approachable energetic leadership has provided a gateway into building sustainable relationships across many disciplines and business functions.


Beyond his professional career, Michael works to engage those around him in volunteerism and community service. Michael has served as the president of the Young Professional Outreach Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh for 2012 and 2013. Michael also uses his personal experiences regionally to speak to students and young professionals about entrepreneurship and getting involved as a young professional.


Michael's nonprofit work was recognized when he received the Volunteer of the Year in Monroeville from InMonroeville magazine and Presidential Service Award from President Obama. In November 2013, Michael appeared in Pittsburgh Magazine as he was selected as one of Pittsburgh's 40 Under 40 in 2013.
